¡Hola!
Por fin tenemos puente... divinas vacaciones... pero tenemos más exámenes a partir del martes, así que tendré que seguir estudiando a pesar de tener vacaciones. Qué ganas tengo de quitarme el Bachillerato de encima... argh!
En este post quería hablar especialmente de COLDPLAY.La verdad es que es un grupo que siempre me ha gustado y que dudaba de si iba a sacar un nuevo álbum dentro de poco. Llegaron a decir que hasta dentro de 3 años no habría un trabajo nuevo. Bueno, pues finalmente ayer pude escuchar el nuevo single de Coldplay llamado 'Violet Hill' que, por cierto, me gusta bastante. La verdad es que tenía miedo de que no llegaran a hacer algo tan bueno como sus anteriores álbumes, ya que dijeron que querían cambiar de estilo y que en su nuevo trabajo iban a tener influencias latinas, ya que estuvieron mucho tiempo de gira por Sudamérica y tuvieron la oportunidad de probar nuevos estilos musicales. Por lo visto, Coldplay concibe a sus tres anteriores álbumes Parachutes, A rush of blood to the head y X&Y como una trilogía.
Por lo que he leído, el nuevo álbum de Coldplay ha sido producido por Brian Eno, el mismo productor de U2 en algunos de sus álbumes, como The Joshua Tree (que, por cierto, es precioso). Este productor tiene fama de ayudar a los artistas a tener éxito con sus nuevos trabajos, los cuales sufren un cambio de estilo importante, pero que hace que los fans sigan queriéndolos igual que antes o incluso más.
Como podréis ver en la foto, el cuarto álbum de Coldplay tiene el nombre de 'VIVA LA VIDA'. Me ha sorprendido mucho que le pusieran un nombre en español (aunque no es de extrañar, ya que la esposa de Chris Martin, Gwineth Paltrow, sabe hablar muy bien español, y estuvo aprendiendo en Talavera de la Reina (Toledo)). Y la portada me encanta. Si visitáis el sitio web oficial de Coldplay, os podréis descargar el single 'Violet Hill' gratis hasta el martes 6 de mayo. Os recomiendo que lo escuchéis. No han cambiado taaanto como esperaba, y mejor, porque su estilo me gusta mucho, pero han evolucionado de una forma elegante, tienen más "guitarreo" y parece que Chris Martin ya no se repite tanto al cantar. Bueno, esa es mi opinión. Este single me gusta más que otros de X&Y, así que a los fans que también os guste Coldplay puede que os interese.

En la página de Rolling Stone, he podido encontrar un artículo interesante del que extraigo el siguiente fragmento:
Coldplay’s fourth album, due out on June 17th, will be called Viva la Vida.
Singer Chris Martin chose it after seeing the phrase, which means “long live
life,” on a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who endured polio, a broken
spine, and chronic pain for decades. “She went through a lot of shit, of course,
and then she started a big painting in her house that said ‘Viva la Vida,’” says
Martin. “I just loved the boldness of it.” Of course, Frida Kahlo will not be
the first name that jumps to most peoples’ minds when they hear the phrase.
“Everyone thinks it comes from Ricky
Martin, which is fine. I have absolute respect,” says the singer, who gave
Coldplay its original name, Pectoralz, and named his children Apple and Moses.
“I’ve been through this before, naming something or someone and everyone saying
that ‘That’s a terrible name’. But then saying, ‘Well, fuck you, that’s what
it’s called, and I’ll be proved to be right eventually’. So when Viva la Vida
came along, I was kind of annoyed because I’m going to have to try and convince
everybody of this, but it just felt right.”
También hay un análisis interesante del álbum:
Several tracks are considerably rougher around the edges, with distorted
guitars
and more prominent percussion. The lyrics are darker,
dealing with recurring
themes of death and loneliness. And on
several songs, Martin extends his vocal
palette
considerably beyond the falsetto that has largely defined him,
exhibiting a lower, sexier mode that feels more personal and real. "Whether
or
not it's good, we certainly started to use more colors," says Martin.
"It's
impossible to please everybody, and it took us a while to learn that.
It's just
the freedom to say, 'Everyone might not like this. We're into it
at the moment,
so let's just get it done.' "
The band explored in a variety of sonic directions, something they attribute
to Eno's encouragement. "He's just not judgmental, it's very refreshing," says
Martin. Buckland adds, "It wasn't so much that he brings like a sound or
something to it. He brings lots of ideas about everything, even down to like how
we structured our day." His suggestion? "Take lots of breaks."
